GETTING READY FOR A HEALTHY ADVENTURE

Next time you visit us, you’ll notice we’ve made some important changes to the way we operate, in order to make things as Covid safe as possible.  Please take the time to read our checklist below before you travel to see us, and follow the clear signage and instructions once you're on site. And if you are unsure about anything at all, our friendly team is always on hand to help! We look forward to welcoming you safely from Tuesday 18th May 2021.

Water, water, everywhere

It’s arguably the most abundant natural resource in North Wales. And without it, we would have no waves for you to ride.

Rainwater. Our 300-metre inland surf lagoon is filled entirely by water that has rained, snowed, drizzled and misted its way down into Snowdonia mountain reservoirs. It pours off the Carneddau mountains – the grassy slopes that provide the backdrop to our adventure parc – and is funnelled into a 5km pipeline which carries it - ultimately - to our site.

But before it fills our lagoon though, the water that makes our waves has an important job to do: it passes through the giant turbines of our next-door neighbour - the RWE hydroelectric plant in Dolgarrog - and helps to power around 20,000 households per year.

To maintain its environmental integrity, and to deliver the best possible user experience, keeping our water chemical-free has always been our priority. Rather than pump it full of chlorine or any other chemical nasties, we clean it using an innovative system of UV disinfection, and particle filtration.

Our water retains a natural peaty colour as a reflection of its natural mountain origins. And because we keep it chem-free, we can release it directly into the Conwy Estuary whenever we need to drain. From there it goes back into the water cycle – no doubt making more waves - as it heads out to the Irish Sea.

New adventures to love in 2021

Perhaps more than any time any of us can ever recall, this year, 2021, feels like the year when procrastination might just come to an end. From as soon as we are safely able to do so, we want to get out to experience as many of life’s rich possibilities as we can possibly get our hands on.

We’re thinking you probably feel exactly the same. So, now things are finally starting to feel a little bit more positive, we wanted to introduce you to some of the exciting new adventures we have coming to Adventure Parc Snowdonia later this spring.

First up, our brand-new pump track. In case you haven’t seen one before, a pump track is a circuit of rollers, banked turns and other features designed to be ridden completely by riders “pumping” their bike – creating momentum by up and down body movements. Whilst designed for pump bikes, a pump track can also be used with mountain bikes, BMX or hybrids.

Our pump track will launch with our new season in spring 2021. A 300-metre all-weather beauty, it is packed full of tabletops, rhythm sections and burms. It comes with split track racing too, so you can take on your mates, or ride in your own time.

This is an adventure the whole family can enjoy: the track comes with three distinct zones, including the main pump track, a mini pump track, and a carver skate bowl which is suitable for surf skate trainers and a great for dry-side surf training. We think you’re going to love it.

Other new activities coming for 2021 include daily fresh-water swimming sessions in the surf lagoon, which will be free for all guests staying at the Hilton Garden Inn Snowdonia.  We will also be offering mountain bike hire – handy for exploring the nearby Gwydir Mawr a Bach (Marin) forest trails.

Anyone who knows Conwy Valley will know that there is plenty of fantastic walking to be done directly from Adventure Parc Snowdonia straight into the Carneddau mountains. As dog-lovers ourselves, we’re delighted to be able to offer dog-friendly glamping and hotel accommodation this year, so if you have a pet in your family, you’ll be able to enjoy some of those fantastic trails with them too.

Getting the Gang Back Together Again

After a long hard year of coronavirus restrictions, we’ve all learned some valuable lessons. The etiquette of loo roll buying. The benefits of a regular haircut. That we really miss working in a fit-for-purpose office with actual real-life colleagues.

We know we’re not quite out of the woods yet, but as the Covid vaccine roll out begins and we look forward to better times ahead, it’s a pretty decent time to reflect. What did you miss most during the long lockdowns of 2020-21?

For most of us, this year has brought home the importance of human connection and spending time with the people we value and love. And yes, whilst Facetime and Zoom are better than no contact at all, there’s no denying that they just can’t compete with a conversation IRL.

The restrictions on travel have made us realise how much we miss having the right to roam and explore. We miss our favourite mountains and beach, and discovering a beautiful new corner of the planet. And we really miss the sheer joy of being able to plan a relaxing weekend away.

As soon as it is safe to do so, we all have some pretty serious catching up to do. Whether you’re looking to reunite with friends, family or colleagues, take a look around our adventure parc in North Wales to see how we can help you get your gang back together in 2021.

Staycation 2021 – now is the time to book

Planning a staycation for 2021? Now is the perfect time to book.

No one needs reminding that 2020 has been a long hard year, and despite some undeniable positives – more family time, nature bouncing back, and no daily commute – it is probably a year that few of us will look back on with a sense of unbridled joy.

We have all had to endure extended time apart from friends and family, which has been a tough call, especially over the traditional family gathering times like summer and Easter holidays, bank holiday weekends, Christmas and New Year. Perhaps unsurprisingly then, it appears that for the majority of us distance has made the heart grow fonder, with over half of Brits (51%)* planning to use travel in 2021 as an opportunity to reconnect with their loved ones.

We think that’s a great idea, and we’re definitely seeing a trend for extended family groups – grandparents, cousins, aunts, uncles and groups of friends – booking in for an extra-special staycation adventure here at Adventure Parc Snowdonia in north Wales.

Check out our beautiful new Hilton Garden Inn and Wave Garden Spa (launching spring 2021), woodland and lagoonside glamping, how you could learn to surf in the mountains on your next holiday, and award-winning indoor and outdoor adventures. With uncertainty around holidays abroad here to stay for a little while yet, now is the perfect time to book to make sure you don’t miss out, especially on those key holiday dates.

We all deserve a break in 2021, so let’s make our staycation one to remember. Our new season launches on Friday 26th March, 2021, and you can secure your preferred dates by booking your accommodation, surf and adventures online now.

Our temporary closure for coronavirus - an update

With all the uncertainty around how long Government restrictions will be in place, we have decided the most responsible course of action is to significantly extend our temporary closure. At this point in time we are unable to confirm how long that closure is likely to go on for.

If you have a booking with us for this season, our team will be cancelling it and issuing you with an e-voucher to the equivalent value of any payment you have made to us. This e-voucher will be valid until 31/12/2021, and you can use it to re-schedule your booking online, just as soon as we have a re-opening date. You should receive your e-voucher by email in the next 7-10 days.

We’ll be in touch with you again just as soon as we have some re-opening news. In the meantime, we have reluctantly taken the decision to close our call centre due to the enormous pressure this unprecedented crisis has put on our business. Our bookings team will be on furlough leave from next week, along with the majority of our staff. Rest assured this will not affect the delivery of your e-voucher.

We remain heartened by and very grateful for your continued support and understanding. Please stay in touch, and sign up to our newsletter to be among the first to know about our re-opening plans. In the meantime we'd like to say a huge thank you to the NHS and all other front line workers who are working so hard to look after us and keep us safe.

See you soon everybody.

WE'RE EXTENDING OUR TEMPORARY CLOSURE

Coronavirus update - Friday 20 March

In line with the latest Government advice, we have decided to significantly extend our temporary closure.

Our hope is to reopen the parc on Saturday 16th May 2020.

Until then, all adventures, accommodation and facilities will remain closed.

As ever, the health and wellbeing of our staff, customers and community remains our top priority. We will continue to monitor the latest Government advice and will keep you up to date with developments as they happen.

Our coronavirus information page will continue to be regularly updated, and we will continue to post on our social media platforms. Please join us there and let us know how you’re doing.

Our bookings team will be in touch with all affected bookings from Monday 23rd March. It might take us a week or two to work our way through everyone, but rest assured we will be in touch if you have a booking which is affected. If you want to drop our team a line in the meantime you can contact them on info@adventureparcsnowdonia.com.

We remain heartened by, and very grateful for, your continued support and understanding. We hope you’ll stay in touch with us over the coming weeks, and we look forward to seeing you again soon.

Best wishes to you and yours,

Adventure Parc Snowdonia
